Risk Of Rain Final Boss Location And Boss Strategy

Reaching the climax of a successful run in Risk of Rain 2 requires players to face off against Mithrix, King of Nothing, located in the desolate realm of Commencement. Finding this final encounter and defeating its multi-phase battle demands both careful preparation and sharp tactical awareness. Understanding how to access the moon and navigate each phase of the fight ensures survivors can reliably complete their runs.
Locating the Primordial Teleporter
To reach the final boss arena on Commencement, players must navigate to the fifth stage, Sky Meadow. Instead of aligning the central structure to loop back to stage one, you must interact with the Primordial Teleporter to set your destination for the moon. Activating this teleporter teleports your squad directly into the final zone.
Upon landing on Commencement, players face a path leading toward the grand central arena. You can either charge the four pillars scattered across the map or utilize vertical mobility items to skip straight into the arena barrier. Entering the central dome triggers the arrival of Mithrix and begins the multi-stage encounter.
Mastering the Early Combat Phases
The first phase against Mithrix focuses heavily on high-speed melee charges and heavy hammer slams that send shockwaves across the floor. Maintaining distance and constantly jumping helps prevent taking direct hits from his deadliest ground attacks. High mobility items like Hopoo Feathers and Wax Quails make dodging these aggressive dashes significantly easier.
During the second phase, Mithrix disappears briefly to summon waves of dangerous Lunar Chimeras. Take cover behind the tall stone pillars in the arena to break line-of-sight from ranged projectiles while clearing out the flying targets first. Once the minion waves are defeated, Mithrix re-enters the battle with enhanced shockwave capabilities.
Navigating the Rotating Energy Beams
In his third phase, Mithrix unleashes his most notorious attack: massive, rotating walls of energy often called the death wheel. These beams sweep across the arena, requiring players to carefully match the rotation or keep a safe distance. Staying closer to the center can make it easier to adjust your movement relative to the angular speed of the spokes.
Continuous airborne movement remains a vital survival tactic during this chaotic stage. Elevating your survivor onto top ledges or utilizing flight abilities can completely negate ground-based shockwaves. Keeping consistent damage output during his brief cooldown windows will safely transition the boss into his final form.
Reclaiming Your Items and Escaping
The fourth and final phase begins with Mithrix siphoning all of the player's hard-earned items. While this drastically weakens your survivor initially, dealing any form of damage to Mithrix gradually forces him to release your stolen inventory. Utilizing cover and striking from long range allows you to slowly reclaim your power while avoiding his slow energy orb attacks.
Once Mithrix is defeated, a detonation sequence begins, giving survivors three minutes to race back to the rescue ship at the spawn point. Sprinting past remaining enemies and standing inside the escape zone until fully charged will secure a successful victory. Mastering these mechanics allows players to consistently conquer Commencement and unlock powerful rewards.
